Hotel Review: The View Eastbourne

Hotel Overview

The View hotel is a modern purpose built building that sits in a prime position on the seafront at Eastbourne within minutes walk of the beach. Most of the View’s 126 rooms and suites offer private balconies giving stunning views out across the English Channel and up and down the coastline.

The hotel boasts a restaurant and a bar with an outside terrace for use in the warmer summer months as well as modern conference and meeting facilities.

It’s location on the seafront is ideal for the beach and is also perfect for accessing Eastbourne’s busy town centre with its array of shops and restaurants.

Check In

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly member of staff on the reception desk who checked us in quickly and allocated us a lovely room on the fifth floor. We were asked if we had arrived by car – which we had – and offered us parking vouchers for the duration of our stay.

We had been given a room at the front of the hotel and it had the most stunning view along the coast to Beachy Head. The room, on the fifth floor, was modern and had plenty of space for luggage and to move around. There was a large comfortable double bed with bedside tables, always handy in my opinion and a good sized work area, the television had all the major channels as well as a fair few extra cable ones. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided and were replenished daily during our stay.

The bathroom was typical for this standard of hotel having a shower over the bath, the shower itself was excellent and had fantastic water pressure. There were plenty of towels and the usual amenities like soap and shampoo were provided.

Overall I found the room to be very comfortable and spotlessly clean and with the added bonus of having a balcony it made for a very pleasant stay.

Restaurants & Bars

The View Hotel has one restaurant and one bar. We used the bar a couple of times over the two nights we were there and found it to be quite pleasant although I thought it lacked a little atmosphere, there was a lovely outside terrace with views out to sea and up and down the seafront which I’m sure would be great in the summer. The staff in the bar were friendly and made us feel very welcome.

The restaurant is situated on the mezzanine level and has beautiful sea views. We only used the restaurant for breakfast and although quite busy the staff were always friendly and helpful. The breakfast was buffet style and the food was good quality with a good offering of different items. My only criticism with the breakfast was that they had a coffee machine which was self service, personally I would of preferred to be served coffee, just something I thought would have added to a nicer experience.

Hotel Facilities

There is no gym or swimming pool at the hotel however they do offer the use of a nearby gym for hotel guests although with the seafront right outside I think I’d rather walk and get some fresh air than spend it in the gym.

Free WiFi is offered throughout the hotel, including in your room, and I found it to be a very efficient connection.

All the staff that I came into contact with at the View were very pleasant and seemed genuinely happy to help if required.

In My Opinion

My stay at the View Eastbourne was very enjoyable. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet and perfect on this particular stay. The hotel is in a lovely position on the seafront and the views from it are a great feature. If I was to return to Eastbourne at some point the View would definitely be at the top of my list for places to stay.
