London is a city that’s known for its architecture from the Gothic splendour of Westminster Abbey to the more formal Nash terraces of Regent’s Park, but until I started researching this post I hadn’t realised how many Art Deco buildings there were, the city is full of them. These are some of my personal favourites.

The area around Westminster and Whitehall in London is always filled with tourists and is home to some of London’s most famous and iconic tourist attractions but step away from the main areas and you’ll discover some parts of London that the tourist rarely sees.

Mr Bell’s Walk Around Soho

Officially the area known as Soho is contained within the boundaries of Oxford Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Charing Cross Road and Regent Street. Chinatown, based along Gerrard Street south of Shaftesbury Avenue, is also considered by many to be part of Soho. The history of Soho goes back to the Middle Ages when the church owned the land, leasing it out as farmland. After the Dissolution the land came under the control of Henry VIII, he used the land for hunting which is where the area probably got its name, from the ancient hunting cry “so-ho!”.
